Materials And Tools:

Cotton Acrylic
yarn (Light or Medium 8-10ply) in blue, red and yellow

Hook US size С/2 (2.5 mm) and E/4 3.5mm
●
Tapestry needle
●
Thread matching color of
your yarn for assembling
●
Scissors
●
Fabric for filter inside
Skill level:
Easy. Basic crocheting skills
required.
Tension is critical for
this project.
Gauge:
18 sc sts × 20 rows = 4 in x 4 in / 10cm x 10cm using hook US size E/4 (3.5
mm)
Finished Measurements:
Approximately your
finished item with recommended materials and hook 4 mm will be about 3.5*9.8 inches (9*25 cm).
Crochet Abbreviations (US terminology):
ch – chain
dec – decrease
inc – increase
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) - stitch(s)
() – rep the
content of the parenthesis as many times as the number after parenthesis says.
The number after = is the
total number of stitches in the rnd.
Start working:
The sizes of my cap is: diameter is 26cm (10.5in) and
height 9.5cm (3.75in). So if the size of your cap is different you must
increase or decrease the size of your cozy. It should be about 1-2 cm smaller
than diameter of your cup.
!!! If you will have problems with measurement, please contact me I’ll
help you.
Crocheting cozy:
Work the back and forth in rows. This means that you need to make a
turning chain at the end of each row.
With red yarn and hook 4mm ch 41 + ch 10 for 1st tie of the cup !!!
*** if you do this, then you no
need to use additional thread.
Rows 1-6: sc in next 40 st, change yarn color
to yellow, 1 ch = 40 sts,
turn
Row 7: sc in next 40 st, ch 10 for 2nd tie, change yarn color to blue, 1 ch = 40 sts, turn
Row 8-19: sc in next 40 st = 40 sts + ch 10 for 3d tie of the cup.
Thуn you must try on cup
cozy and adjust the length of the tie to fit your mug.
You must fasten off each
tie with sl st, cut the yarn and weave in all ends with hook or tapestry needle.
Sew buttons on the
opposite end of the cozy.
Embroidering word superman
With yellow yarn embroider the words superdad or superman with the pattern
in the picture below with hook sl st as shown in the video https://youtu.be/Fae3MCP2K4k, https://youtu.be/-Xm_SM_SPF4
or embroider with tapestry needle.
Crocheting logo of superdad or superman:
Work the logo back and forth in rows.
With yellow yarn and hook 2mm ch 2.
Row 1(INC): 3sc in next st, ch 1 =
3 sts, turn
Row 2 (INC): 2sc in next st, sc in next 1st, 2sc in next st, ch 1= 5 sts, turn
Row 3 (INC): 2sc in next st, sc in next 3st, 2sc in next st, ch 1= 7 sts, turn
Row 4: sc in next 7 sts,
ch 1 = 7 sts
Row 5 (DEC): sc dec, sc in next 3
sts, sc dec, ch 1= 5 sts,
turn
Row 6 (DEC): sc dec, sc in next 1
sts, sc dec, ch 1= 3 sts,
turn
Fasten off, cut yarn and weave in ends.
Then work with red yarn and hook 2mm around the yellow piece.
Start with sl st into the row 1.
Sl st in next 3 sts,
2sl st in next st, sl
st in next 2st, 2sl
st in next st, sl st in next 1st, 2sl st in next st, sl st in next 2st, 2sl st in next st, sl st in next 3st, sl st.
Fasten off, leave long tail for sewing and embroidering the letter D or
S.
Embroider letter D or S with sl sts as at the pic.
Then sew logo to the cup cozy between row 9 and row 17. Fasten off, cut
yarn and weave in ends.
That's all. Your cup cozy is ready!
